There is an expansiveness found in writing every day. Something I forget until I get back into the practice. As soon as I return, I find my writing getting more succinct and direct than I am accustom to during my periods of binge writing. The difference between regular sessions and marathons that are followed by months (years) of doing nothing is the difference between night and day.
So I have decided to start, again. To start just in time for NaNoWriMo, the novel written in a month that begins November 1st. The goal is 50,000 words in 30 days - which works out to 1,600 words per day. I used to be araid of that; worried that I wouldn't be able to accomplish the output. After two years, I'm not concerned about that at all. What worries me now is not seeing my work improve. Not finding my voice Not coming any nearer to finding the stories I want to tell and the way I want to tell them.
So that is the challenge now. NaNoWriMo 2008. I'm calling it my "breakout" year.

"Develop an interest in life as you see it; the people, things, literature, music-the world is so rich, simply throbbing with rich treasures, beautiful souls and interesting people. Forget yourself." - Henry Miller
I've got a good feeling about this year, too. Looking forward to sharing the experience with you (and your awesome little netbook).
